Time for some FOOD!

So if anyone actually is reading what I write on here, you're probably getting tired of just tri related stuff. Let's talk about food. My favorite food. Pancakes. I make pancakes on average of 4 times a week, and sometimes mix in waffles for variety. Besides the fact that I douse them in copious amounts of syrup (maple syrup when possible), I try to add some wholesomeness. Here and now I release my secret recipe to become public knowledge. Well, sort of release the recipe. You see I rarely actually measure the ingredients so when I list the amounts it's just a ballpark. Just add all the ingredients and experiment with your own amounts.


1c Whole Wheat Flour*
1/4c Instant Oats
1t. Baking Powder
1/2t. Baking Soda
2T Flaxseed Meal
2T Wheat Germ
2T Honey
2T melted Butter
1 egg
1-1.5c Buttermilk


 First melt the butter, add the honey and stir. Add 1c Buttermilk and the oats and stir. Let sit for a few minutes, while the dry ingredients are sifted together. Add egg to liquid ingredients and mix. Combine wet and dry ingredients and stir until just combined and still lumpy. Add more buttermilk depending on if you prefer thin pancakes over thick ones. Cook and serve immediately.

*Recently I've been using King Arthur 'White Whole Wheat Flour' I have no idea of the 'healthyness factor' as compared to other flours. I do like the texture and lighter flavor it gives and I can use it in recipes requiring regular white flour, without getting the sometimes overpowering hearty taste of whole wheat flour. That being said using normal whole wheat flour will give these pancakes a super hearty flavor.

I've had good luck with Bob's Red Mill for the Wheat Germ and Flaxseed meal.
